SSFAC gave it everything they had in a PSL Cup elimination game against JASA Dos. The boys got off to a great start when Martin wright poked home a loose ball in the box from a corner kick in the 20 minute.The game became intense and the battle was on. JASA answered with a goal in the 30th minute to send the teams into half time level at 1 apiece. South City really put on the pressure in the second half forcing the JASA back three defenders into mistakes which created numerous chances. Finally in the 75th minute, Nico Giovanelli received a great cross into the box from Greg Hui and he finished his chance to give SSF a 2-1 lead. The match was fast and furious at this point as south City tried to close it out and JASA Dos looked for the equalizer. As time wound down, JASA had an answer as a forward dribbled the ball into the box and fired a shot that found the net to again tie the match at 2-2 in the 88th minute. Full time came and the match then went to penalty kicks to determine who would advance in the Cup and unfortunately for South City, JASA Dos came out on top converting a 4-2 result in penalties to advance to the Abronzino PSL Cup Semifinals. For South City it was a tough loss and closed out what was an excellent season. The team will now rest up and recover and look forward to the beginning of training camp in July.
