SSFAC collected a big victory on the road as they downed Los Banos Futbol Club 3-1 on Sunday evening. It was a cold and damp night, but South City came out with a purpose and notched the first goal of the match when Aidan Durgerian made a great run from the left side and his shot was saved by the keeper who gave up a rebound for Greg Hui to poke home for the 1-0 lead at minute 30. Both teams tried hard to find the net as SSF looked to up their lead, and Los Banos searched for the equalizer.
The next tally would come in the 52nd minute, but it was SSF that would strike. Kris Szeto played a nice ball to Brendan Cadam who outran his defender and finished past the keeper from a tight angle hitting the far post and into the net. The teams defense played another solid game with strong efforts from Martin Wright, Bob Weger, Kevin Ma, & Sully Donohue.
Los Banos desperately tried to get back into the game, and finally collected a tally in the 82nd minute, but their momentum was short lived as Kian Katanforoosh wins a ball, goes past a few defenders, and lays the ball off to Greg Hui who deposits it in the upper corner of the near post to put the game to bed in the 88th minute at 3-1.
Next up for SSF is a battle with a rejuvinated Deportivo Cometa who upset JASA RWC 2-1 in their outing. The match will be on Saturday, December 17th at El Camino High with kickoff set for 2:00pm
