After suffering two tough losses, SSFAC hit the road Sunday night traveling to Redwood City's Bechet Field in search of a much needed win. With ninety minutes of tremendous effort,.... they found it, knocking off the 2nd place Juventus Academy Silicon Valley by a score of 3-1.
SSF hit the ground running right from the start, looking to establish the momentum needed to bring home a positive result. Newly signed Jack Snowdon gave the team the lift they needed as he notched his first goal for the club after a great cross from Kian Katanforoosh in the games 17th minute. Katanforoosh would increase the lead to 2 when just 6 minutes later his pressure on the Juventus defense was rewarded as he gained possession and found the net. Juventus would not go away however, as they countered with a goal of their own just 10 minutes later that would bring the teams to halftime with South City holding a 2-1 lead.
Half number two saw SSF really take control of the match as they now were playing with the confidence that had been missing the last few games. The midfield was keeping Juventus from gaining any push going forward, and when they did manage an opportunity, the defense quickly shut down any threat on goal.
This was a match SSF needed to have to keep any hopes of staying in the race for the top of the table in the SWPL's Pacific Premier. Forward Carlos Ballesteros made sure that the match would result in a victory as he tucked home a cross from Snowdon to put the game to bed in the 70th minute. Juventus tried to get back into the match, but SSF would have none of it as they went home with a huge 3 points earned on the road.
As the Pacific Premier race continues to tighten, SSF now hooks up with Modesto City FC in a home and home pairing over the next two weekends. Sunday, February 5th, the team travels to Modesto for the first encounter at Central Catholic High School with kickoff set for 6:00pm

One of the new members of the Pacific Premier this season, South San Francisco AC went on the road and beat Juventus Academy Silicon Valley 3-1 in a league match on Sunday, Jan. 29.
The victory moves SSFAC into a tie with Juventus Academy for second place on 25 points, four back of current leader JASA RWC (29).
Los Banos FC rebounded from a loss last week to beat JASA RWC Under-23s, 3-1, on three free kick goals from Jason Valtierra, while Bay Area returned to action with a 6-1 win over Modesto CIty FC.
JASA RWC maintained its grip on the division with a 3-3 draw against upstart SC Santa Clara.
