Looking Back At Our Past......Games, Seasons, & Memories !!

In this edition of Looking Back, we revisit the 2011-12 season Click here for full story.

SSFAC was coming off a 4th place finish in the 2010-11 Premier Division with a record of 7-4-3. As they readied themselves for the new season, they looked to improve their position in the standings and bring some consistency to their play.

Scoring more was one item that needed a boost, and they certainly got that as they tallied 3 goals or more in 10 of their 16 games. They had a few offensive explosions as they downed Grasshoppers twice by scores of 7-0, and 8-3, along with a 7-3 rout over Sunnyvale United.

Two teams that gave SSF trouble were league champion Palo Alto SC, and 4th place finisher Club Sport Maritimo as they swept both games to give South City their 4 losses on the season, but two big wins over 3rd place FC Palo Alto along with 9 wins and 1 tie against the rest of the Division was enough to lock up a 2nd place finish for the team.

SSF kept the momentum going and with a 2 year record of 19-6-5 and back to back 2nd place finishes, they earned promotion to the Majors Division in 2013 which was the top Division of the Peninsula Soccer League. The team remained in the Majors Division and eventually won the title in 2021, which was the final year of the PSL.
