Game Comments:

South San Francisco A.C. returned from their winter break with a dominating performance over their long time rival Trabia FC, downing them 5-1 on Sunday. SSF controlled much of the early play and finally broke through in the 22nd minute as Fabio Marques slotted a perfect ball to his left just outside the box to Ryan Wiegmann who finished his chance with a goal to the far side netting. South City looked to take that 1 goal lead into halftime, but Trabia struck just before the whistle with a well placed header to equalize the score. When play resumed, South City quickly took control. Five minutes into the second half, SSF had an opportunity from a free kick from about 25 yards out. Trabia set up a five man wall and Blair Smith lined up to take the kick. Smith carefully looked over the situation, then sent a laser of a shot that had plenty of hook on it as it sailed around the wall and into the back of the net. The Trabia keeper could only watch in amazement as he was beaten cleanly. That seemed to wake up SSF and they tallied again 2 minutes later with Andrew Pantano scoring off a rebound to give the home side a 2 goal lead. South City tallied twice more as Omar Perez-Diaz, returning to the team after playing college ball with CCSF, tucked a nice shot onto the lower corner of the goal, and Pantano collecting his second of the game in the closing minute to finish off an impressive win. Abner Ramos was again solid in goal and received great support from his defensive core of Ever Alvarez, Scott Ellis, Kenny Ewbank, Thoeun Huy-Chan & Jim Burke. The midfield did its job of controlling the pace of the game and setting up quality chances with terrific play from Damian Hites, & Leandro Monteiro as they took care of the wings creating numerous chances, and from the combination of Smith, Bobby Quinlan, & Rafael Arguello taking complete charge of the middle. Wiegmann & Pantano were also strong in their play as well as the "assist maker" Fabio Marques. The high flyin Brazilian added to his totals with his effort on the teams first goal. SSF now readies itself for an important battle with Shamrock Harps as they try to climb the standings with another win next week.
