SSFAC needed a win to assure themselves of at least a 4th place finish and their best record since 2005, and they did so with a 2-0 win over Trabia FC in San Jose. Despite playing without some of their regulars, SSF managed to overcome a sluggish 1st half to score twice in the second 45 minutes to earn the win. Omar Perez-Diaz found the left side netting in the 63rd minute after a beautiful feed from Fabio Marques, then Omar struck again after an individual effort saw him carry the ball about 20 yards and then send a strike to the right side of the goal for the 2-0 lead in the 70th minute. The SSF defense was again very good limiting Trabia to 1 shot in the second half. Abner Ramos notched his 3rd shutout of the season, and was assisted by the strong play of Ever Alvarez, Scott Ellis, Kenny Ewbank, Damian Hites, Thoeun Huy-Chan, & Howard Choy. SSF Reserve player Denis Ivanov called up to help fill the roster, made an outstanding save to clear the ball of the line early in the match to help keep the game scoreless. Ivanov had a good match playing in the midfield as well as Cesar Maldonado, Leandro Monteiro, Fabio Marques, Ryan Wiegmann and Perez-Diaz. Andrew Pantano made dangerous runs through out the match and was denied by the crossbar from getting a score. SSF took complete control of the match in half number two as they dominated play in the midfield and kept the pressure on Trabia, whose goalkeeper kept the scoreline close. In the end it was a very satisfying day for the club as they finished the season with only one defeat in their final eleven matches and served notice that they will be a club to be taken seriously when next season approaches.
