It was a match that lived up to it's expectations. Two teams going at each other for 90 minutes, each trying to break down the other and find a way to win. In the end it was a battle of two great goalkeepers who were both brilliant, which lead to the match coming to a 0-0 conclusion, a fair result for both sides. SSFAC's Abner Ramos was flawless in goal for 90 mins, turning away every Shaheen attempt. His diving save late in the match was outstanding and kept SSF in the game. On the other end, Shaheen's keeper was tested more often as he came out of the goal many times to turn away opportunities. Early on a strike headed to the upper corner from Ryan Wiegmann was denied, and later on a Blair Smith set piece from 25 yards out was destined for the upper left netting only to be knocked away by a finger tip save. The defense for SSF was outstanding as Ever Alvarez, Scott Ellis, Harry Andreades, Ian Preikschat, & Jim Burke did a beautiful job of containing the Shaheen attack. Steady play from midfielders Blair Smith, Bobby Quinlan, Leo Monteiro, Andrew Pantano, Jonathan Wong, Dom Hites, & Howard Choy, keep Shaheen from mounting too much pressure as they went after and battled for every ball. Antony Reyes, Ryan Wiegmann & Fabio Marques pushed forward trying to find the net with a strike in hopes of giving SSF the one goal they would need for the win, but it wouldn't come on this day that belonged to the keepers. SSFAC now returns home to meet Palo Alto SC, another one of the strong clubs in the Premier Division this season.
