Missed opportunities and some minor errors summed up South City's match against Gordon Biersch. SSF got on the board first when Blair Smith sent a perfect pass to Leandro Monteiro who went in alone on the keeper. He then pushed the ball to his right to an oncoming Ali Ibrahim and he collected his 1st goal of the season. Gordon Biersch came back right away and scored 3 goals in the first half. One came on a missed assignment, another from an own goal as the ball deflected off a SSF defender. South City battled hard and the second half saw both teams hit the net for the eventual final score of 4-2 in Biersch's favor. Goalkeeper Adrian Monroy continued his stellar play in goal with some key saves and the defense worked very hard to limit Gordon Biersch's chances. Midfield play was strong behind Gareth Lea, Jack Orr, Pedro Crispin and Monteiro. Blair Smith and Fabio Marques did their best to put pressure on the Biersch keeper. Despite the loss, SSF played a very good game and gave all they could to get the result. They dominated the possession part of the game, but just could break through to hit the net often enough. Next SSFAC travel to De Anza college to meet powerful Santa Clara Sporting.
