Santa Clara Sporting sent a message to everyone in the PSL's Major Division. They are the two time defending league champions for a reason. SSFAC suffered a humbling 12-3 defeat at the hands ( or should we say feet ) of Sporting. South City entered the game with only 11 players available and also suffered an own goal and 3 penalty kicks against them. Sporting was dominant and took a 3-0 lead at the half. Sporting then put the game away early in the second half, but to their credit, SSF didn't quit and managed to score 3 goals of their own off the feet of Bobby Quinlan, Andrew Elliott and Blair Smith. It was a hard day for the team as they gave it their best in the heat and with no bench players, but take nothing away from Sporting as they deserve the victory and the Division title. South City now turns their attention to Shaheen in a make up game this Sunday at Hillsdale High with the hopes of clinching a 2nd place finish in the division.
