SSFAC opened the match up again by dominating early on and creating all sorts of havoc for Monterey as Danny Turgeon and Norbert Nemeth, along with Carlos Ballesteros playing behind the striker, were linking up well and controlled the middle of the pitch with ease. Greg Hui was a constant threat again on the wing, and he was picked out by a beautiful long ball from Turgeon and pushed it past the keeper for a 1-0 lead. Jovi Amirkiai was solid as he dropped to receive the ball and then released for runners from midfield.
Defensively, South City was tough to conquer again as Fernando Costa, Meyer Gorelick, Ian Bergman and Martin Wright kept Monterey at bay and enabled goal keeper Adrian Monroy to have a fairly peaceful day. The 2nd half saw the domination continue as Sam Nadell worked the right side and Kevin Ma's tireless running opened up the Monterey defense. Eventually, Nemeth broke thru and was brought down inside the area for a penalty kick, but for the 2nd week in a row, the team failed to capitalize on it as Hui's shot went just wide.
SSFAC then had goal number 2 arrive off the leg of Martin Wright as he finished a corner sent from Hui. Monterey then picked up it's game and drew closer with a goal to cut the margin to 2-1, but SSF immediately recaptured control of the match as Norbet Nemeth broke through the back line of the defense where he was again taken down for a penalty. This time, Amirkiai made sure of the finish, sending the keeper the wrong way to make it 3-1. Monterey closed out the scoring as they pulled one back in the final seconds, but South City had their second win in succession as they now head into their bye week.
