SSFAC closed out the 2018 portion of their remarkable season with a 2-0 win over JASA Dos in the 1st Round of the Abronzino PSL Cup. South City is now unbeaten 8 games as they grabbed the Cup win to go along with their 6-0-1 record in league play, which has earned them the top spot in the NorCal PSL Division.
The team received another amazing performance from the defense, which has only conceded 6 goals in 8 games, and has limited the opposition very few opportunities to score. The teams midfield also has had a tremendous start to the season as they control the tempo of the match and transition into the attack with ease.
South City struck first on this rainy day when Danny Turgeon was able to direct a ball into Carlos Ballesteros direction, and he delivered that chance into the lower netting for a 1-0 lead just before the half. Gareth Lea's perfect volley in the 59th minute closed out the scoring and assured the team of advancement in the Cup, which will take place in the spring of 2019. The team will now take time to enjoy the Christmas Holidays and will return to action on January 6th when they meet last years defending champion Palo Alto SC in what should be an epic match
