SSFAC got back to it's winning ways with a 5-2 defeat of Cleats On Fire. After suffering their 1st loss of the season a week ago to the defending champion Palo Alto SC, South City needed to make a statement to the league and to themselves that they are in it till the end. After conceding an opening goal to Cleats, SSF countered with 4 tallies of their own to take control of the match. Greg Hui got the team level with a goal in the 12th minute, which was followed by scores from newcomer Roni Acosta, and then Danny Turgeon and Carlos Ballesteros. Cleats pulled a goal closer in the 55th minute, but Martin Wright put the game to bed with a header in the 69th minute. Cleats continued to apply pressure on the SSF defense, which was stellar again, and lead by goal keeper Adrian Monroy who made some spectacular stops to hold off any thoughts of Cleats making a comeback.. SSF looks to keep the momentum going when they host Real Santa Clara next Sunday, January 20th at El Camino High. Kickoff is 10:30am
