In their third and final meeting of the season, SSF came out strong and kept the possession of the ball superbly throughout much of the first half against rival Goal Busters. South City created some good opportunites, but unfortunately their shots were just a bit off target. Busters were trying to work themselves into the match but SSF remained solid on the ball. In the 40th minute, South City got on the scoreboard as Brendan Cadam controlling the ball in the midfield from about 40 yards out, saw the Busters keeper playing off his line and sailed a beautiful shot over his head to give SSF the 1-0 lead they carried into halftime.
The second half saw quite the opposite as Goal Busters came out with a renewed intensity and started to take SSF out of their rythym. Busters finally found the equalizer when a ball sent into the box fell perfectly for a Busters midfielder who slammed it home for the 1-1 scoreline. South City tried to sneak in a winner, but Danny Turgeon's late free kick went just wide of the mark, and both teams had to settle for a share of the points in the standings.
SSF now has an open weekend as their next opponent, Gordon Biersch has forfeited the match to SSF. Up next will be the battle for the top spot as SSFAC hosts defending league champion Santa Clara Sporting on Super Sunday, February 2nd at El Camino High School with kickoff at 10:30am. This will be the third and final meeting between these two with SSF having a win and a tie in their previous encounters
