SSF traveled to Red Morton Park for their Quarterfinal Cup match with JASA Dos. The team entered the match with injuries and a lack of personnel, but started with a game plan to bunker in and keep compact. JASA were controlling the possession of the ball early on, but South City were happy to sit back and be ready to counter attack when they could. As SSF starting to gain some of the possession, JASA pounced on a mistake and managed to convert from the outside and take the 1-0 lead. SSF started to gain control of more of the ball playing great through the center midfield and on the flanks, and nearly ended up with a penalty kick as a JASA defender clearly handled the ball, but the referee would have none of it. The half ended with the 1-0 score.
South City decided at halftime to come out more on the front foot and be more aggressive. JASA continued to put pressure on the the SSF backline and finally notched their 2nd goal off a corner kick as a defender headed it home off the crossbar. With SSF trying their best to find the net, fatigue was becoming a major factor and JASA got their 3rd goal from a cross in from the right and the striker volleyed it home.
SSFAC didn't give up and continued the assualt on goal and were able to pull one back when Danny Turgeon hit a 35 yard thunderbolt into the top corner to bring SSF within 2 goals. The boys gave it a final big push, but time ran out on them and JASA Dos closed out the 3-1 win. It was a tough loss to absorb, but South City held their heads high as they worked hard in this match and battled to the end.
