South San Francisco A.C. kept their winning streak alive in a game shortened by controversy. The match started with both sides looking for that elusive opening goal, and SSF found one when Greg Hui connected on a great pass from Chris Kyriacou to put the home side up 1-0. It stayed that way until halftime as both clubs battled to a stalemate from that point. SSF couldn't quite manage to slot home another, while Shaheen was shutdown by the dominating SSF defense.
The start of the second half saw things change dramactically. Early into the half, there was a collision of heads between Carlos Ballesteros and a Shahenn player, that resulted in Ballesteros being shown the yellow card. At roughly the same time, Greg Hui also was booked on a yellow for a hard challenge to a Shaheen player who felt that he may have suffered a rib injury. Shaheen argued with the referee over the calls, and one player for Shaheen wound up being sent off on a red card for his persistent arguing. Things continued to escalte as the Shaheen player continued to yell at the official, who finally decided to abandon the match because of the unsportsmanlike conduct.
It was an unfortunate way for the match to come to an end as both teams seemed to match up fairly evenly and the match was entertaining. SSF now travels to Redwood City for their second encounter with JASA Dos next Sunday, November 14th with kick off set for 3:00pm on Bechet Field at the Red Morton Soccer Complex
