SSFAC improved their record to 2-0 as they soundly defeated a young JASA Dos team 7-1 last Sunday at El Camino High. The team started the game with a very quick tempo forcing JASA on their back foot. SSF created numerous chances before finally getting rewarded as new addition Connor Grant made a solid move into the area before being taken down by a JASA defender, drawing a penalty. Martin Wright converted to give South City the early lead.
SSF was playing with confidence and got their 2nd score on a beautiful free kick from Carlos Ballesteros. The boys still needed to be strong at the back as JASA was starting to make a push, but goal keeper Adrian Monroy was up to the task as he made some very good saves. South City notched their 3rd goal with a great pass from Ballesteros in to Chris Kyriacou who scored on a wonderful chip over the keeper. The score going into halftime was 4-0 as Greg Hui connected to give the team a very comfortable lead.
SSF was determined to record a clean sheet, but JASA had other ideas and pulled one back at the 52nd minute to make it 4-1. Not to be outdone, SSF them roared back with 3 more tallies of thier own. Grant finding the corner of the net for his first goal, Wright with a strong finish on an assist from Hui, and again Hui with another fine assist to Ballesteros who put home his 2nd of the day to close out the scoring.
SSFAC closed the game out, but not before displaying their best soccer thus far this season. The defense was yet again excellent, and the attacking play was remarkable. Now the boys look to keep their winning ways going as they meet a very strong Shaheen FC team from San Jose, next Sunday, November 7th at El Camino High School. Kickoff is set for 10:30am.
