In 1954 when Founder & Head Coach Alvaro Bettucchi formed the men's soccer team, South San Francisco Athletic Club, he knew it was about to be the beginning of something special, be he had no idea that it would last for over seventy plus years. Local players from the SSF Recreation League began the journey that would eventually make SSFAC one of the Bay Area's longest continuing men's teams which is still active today. The original members of the team made their mark as they played for the two local High Schools, SSF High School and El Camino High School. As soccer began to flourish in San Mateo County, many more players came out to play for SSFAC, coming from both school teams as well as the devloping youth soccer programs throughout the area. Coach Bettucchi, along with next generation Coach Mike Pizzo have put together a tribute to the greatest players to have worn the SSFAC jersey, from the Best Eleven in each era, to the "Hall of Stars," as we remember the best to have stepped on the field over the years. The seasons will continue to come and go, but these players will never be forgotten for their contributions to the beautiful game.
