As the team transitioned into the 21st century, their challenges became more difficult as the teams in the 1st Division had also improved and the games were more intense and hard fought. In the early stages of the decade, SSFAC tried to find the right balance that would keep them competitve against very good teams such as Burlingame Gobbans, Peninsula Fury, Jarusa, Portola Concordia and Harmonie to name a few. Things finally clicked in 2004 as SSF finished the season with a 9-7-2 record. 

The 2005 season saw South City achieving their best record of the decade as they went 11-3-2 scoring 47 goals while only allowing 18 and earning them promotion into the Premier Division. The decade would come to a close with the team having a 9 year record of 58-91-20 with 317 goals for and 396 against
